Privacy Wood Fencing

Get the ultimate standard in residential privacy fencing with our basic privacy style. You can find this design installed all across backyards in Toronto and the surrounding areas because of its simply beautiful appearance. Basic privacy wood fences are the most budget-friendly option for full privacy coverage, creating solid panels with each picket right next to each other, leaving no gaps.

Chain Link

Chain Link

Chain link fences are a very common type of fencing despite the fact that they are also one of the oldest forms of fencing. They provide all the basic requirements expected of a fence. A chain link fence is made out of plastic-coated or galvanized steel wire. These types of fences often mimic a classic woven design. It is generally structured to have a flat and uniform mesh hole surface.

Another great way to get full privacy from your fence is with the addition of the board-on-board wood fencing style. This style is built by overlapping each picket directly on top of each other in a distinct, alternating pattern. Not only does this create a beautiful look, but it ensures your fence won't leave any gaps between boards over time as it ages. The optional top cap adds another dimension of style, too!

Horizontal fences have emerged as a stylish and practical choice for homeowners looking to blend form and function seamlessly.

Shadowbox Wood Fencing

Do you want privacy but would like your fence to have visibility and spacing? A shadowbox wood fence is the answer! Similar to board-on-board fences, shadowbox wood fences have overlapping pickets. However, each picket is attached by alternating boards on opposite sides of the horizontal rails. This gives the illusion of complete privacy but allows air and some visibility at an angle between the pickets. Many prefer shadowboxes due to their finished look on both sides of the fence.

Installing Fences on Uneven Ground

The best scenario when having a fence installed is to have a perfectly flat, level yard. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case. Let's explore how fence professionals at the Fence and Deck Company can design the perfect solution for your situation.

Level Fence with Level Ground

The best scenario when installing a fence is to have a perfectly flat, level yard. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case. At first glance, many yards appear to be mostly flat and level. However, a closer look usually reveals slopes and dips in your yard that can have a dramatic impact on the installation of your fence. Don't worry! There are many ways to install a beautiful fence on sloping or uneven ground.

Level Fence with Uneven Ground

Homeowners will often ask that their fence is "level" ... which is totally understandable. However, a level fence on uneven or sloping ground is probably NOT what you really want!
As you can see here, if your yard slopes or dips, a level fence may not be the right approach.

Racked Fence on Sloped Ground

In some cases, a property might have a consistent slope from front to back or side to side. If this is the case, matching the slope of the ground yields a beautiful "straight", sloping fence line. Many people love the look of this approach.

Stepped Fence on Sloped Ground

Another way to handle a sloping yard is to use a "stepped" approach. Each fence panel is level and steps down, consistent with the yard's slope. Depending on the hill's steepness, a fence panel is at ground level on one end but several inches off the ground on the other. For this reason, if you prefer an " ok of a "stepped" approach, only recommend it for gradual slopes.

fence-contours-with-ground

Fence Contouring With Ground

The most common approach to uneven and sloping ground is shown here. The fence follows the contour of the land. The "rolling" and "flowing" fence line closely matches the ground, creating the most natural look for a fence. We carefully place posts at key points along the perimeter to most closely match the contour of the land ... but there are limitations to how closely we can match sudden changes in height and contour. So small gaps are expected in specific points at the bottom of the fence. This is entirely normal, and there are ways to "hide" them if that is of concern to you.
